We’re coming to the 10 year mark of Judd Apatow’s 2012 movie, ‘This is 40.’ The movie was a spin-off of characters that made brief appearances within the movie ‘Knocked Up’ which came out 5 years before that. The main characters were played in part by Leslie Mann and Paul Rudd with supporting characters played by John Lithgow, Megan Fox, and several celebrities playing themselves in service of the B-plot.
The movie focused primarily on the main characters finding their way through the trials and tribulations of a relationship as they’re reaching middle age. The movie originally received mixed receptions from several outlets, but it ultimately saw a box office success of $88.1 million, more than double the budget.
Now that Judd Apatow is running through the experiences and hindsight of being married through the age of 50, he’s been toying with the idea that will eventually become his next movie. According to a recent interview with The Wrap, Judd stated that he’s finally narrowed down what the movie could be about. “I’ve always wanted to make ‘This Is 50’ and it is time…”
He’s uncertain which project will be up next for him, this idea is just one of two that he’s working on currently. The writer-director said he had high hopes. “I’m hoping that comes together.”, he said, adding “I have an idea that I really like for it.”
