After what feels like ages we’ve finally got our first glimpse into what is sure to be another insane season of ‘The Boys’. Debuted at their SXSW panel on Sunday, the teaser trailer packs a major punch and shows us a little of what’s in store for season 3. As is expected we’ll have a corrupt collective of superheroes (Supes) going up against the vigilantes determined to take them down. Things already seem to be shaking up in the trailer though, and I’m expecting some curveballs to come our way when the new season finally airs.
Some trailer highlights include Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) displaying some superpowers of his own, a musical number, Hughie (Jack Quaid) covered in various liquified substances, the long-awaited debut of Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy, and many many exploding bodies. To me, it seems like this season will keep up the tradition of not shying away from depicting the gory messy chaos that is life in Vought-land.
Based on the graphic novel series by Garth Ennis and Derick Robertson and adapted by Eric Kripke, you can catch up on the first two seasons on Amazon Prime now. Rounding out the cast for season 3 includes Erin Moriarty, Colby Minifie, Chace Crawford, Claudia Doumit, Tomer Capone, Laz Alonso, Dominique McElligott, Karen Fukuhara, and Jessie T. Usher.
As Urban promised us a few months back, we’re getting a “next level bat shit crazy good season” and after that teaser, I’m inclined to believe him. June 3rd can’t come fast enough so check out the red band trailer below!
