Have you ever played through the first ‘Resident Evil’ or its remake? If so, you may have been curious as to what the game is referring to when it mentioned the Arklay Mountains. Well, Gamejolt has set out to tell the tale through a multi-episodic PC game.
According to the Gamejolt landing page for the title, this title will feature a lot as the episodes unfold. “RETAC is a PC fan game that traces the events of July 98 surrounding the Arklay Mountains. You can play several iconic characters in original scenarios such as Kenneth Sullivan, Richard Aiken, Forest Speyer, Barry Burton and Albert Wesker and try to discover the many secrets that hide the Spencer mansion.”
For those wondering if this will be a game that gets struck down by Capcom’s legal team, don’t worry. Capcom traditionally doesn’t shut down fan games. They have done so in recent history, though. This is because the fan game in question directly competed with something that Capcom intended on releasing too.
In the instance of ‘Resident Evil: The Arklay Chronicles,’ it just adds to the ‘Resident Evil’ franchise hype and it’s a unique story. They’ve also known to hire people in the past from these fan teams, so some people likely make Capcom fan games as a sort of audition for a job.
If you want to play this game, you’ll be happy to know that episode one is available now. You can visit the official Gamejolt RETAC page to download it and start playing now. If you have any bugs or hiccups, let the team know as they release game patches consistently along side working on the next episode. When the following episode goes live, we have yet to learn. Let us know on Twitter if you see another episode go live.
