This week, Variety has stated that they confirmed that HBO Max is working on a prequel to the newest iteration of Stephen King’s ‘It’. As of now, there has not been an official comment from HBO Max representatives. However, we do know some key pieces of information as of now.

The series is tentatively titled ‘Welcome to Derry.’ The story will lead up to the first ‘It’ film in the 1980s. It will, however, begin twenty years prior to that. Likely filling in answers to questions posed by the recent two films. The most interesting piece of information thus far is about Pennywise. Variety has shared knowledge that the story will divulge more about where the dancing clown is from. I think one big questions fans will have is who will play Pennywise and what form will he take?

The same crew involved in creating the movies will be directly involved in ‘Welcome to Derry.’ The director of the films, Andy Muschietti, will be the executive producer. He will also be in the director’s chair for at least the first episode. The other executive producers are Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs. Jason will be the one penning the script, however, all three of them are building the story.

More on this series as it develops.
